AquaCare Twin – airflow and intraoral air-abrasion unit

One of AquaCare’s main features is its patented handpiece, smaller than 1 oz. The handpiece gently delivers a high-speed liquid stream from an inverted-bottle delivery system to create a liquid curtain around the abrasive medium. This allows comfortable, efficient cavity preparation and cleaning.

Which procedures can be performed with air abrasion?

Air abrasion can be used to remove caries from the tooth as well as some old composite restorations. However, it cannot remove metallic restorations such as silver or amalgam fillings. It is used to prepare a tooth surface for bonding or sealants and to remove superficial stains and tooth discoloration. AquaCare cuts quickly but carefully, minimizes removal of sound tooth material and eliminates the risk of chipping or stress fracture. In cleaning mode, AquaCare is a valuable tool for the hygienist, providing highly efficient stain removal and cleaning while removing only minimal sound tooth material and eliminating the risk of chipping and stress fracture.

Operating modes and cartridge system

Three effective foot controls allow cutting, cleaning and rinse/dry to be performed through the same handpiece. The unique independent cartridge system keeps two chambers (with the twin unit) ready for use at any time and multiplies your options to suit each situation. Switching takes only a second. The cartridge has an internal feed system that eliminates clogging. It enables fast, efficient switching between materials and prevents mixing of powders and possible contamination. Each cartridge has a unique color for each powder.

Technical features and accessories

AquaCare runs entirely on air with no electrical parts, requiring less maintenance than electronic equipment. The autoclavable handpiece comes in 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm color-coded tip sizes. Long-life tungsten carbide nozzles are easily changed to suit the procedure. Depending on the procedure you are working on, there is a disposable tip option to choose from. In cutting mode, AquaCare is used to prepare cavities without the need for anesthesia or drilling.
