Glycolon monofilament absorbable surgical suture 5-0 — box of 24
Absorbable surgical suture — reverse cutting — 18 mm — monofilament
Glycolon is Resorba’s worldwide best-selling suture material, made of polyglycolic acid (PGA) and polycaprolactone (PCL).
The monofilament structure provides excellent handling, does not wick bacteria, and allows atraumatic passage through tissue.
Glycolon retains 50% of its tensile strength for 11–13 days*.
Features
- High tear resistance
- Excellent knot security
- Short-term absorbable monofilament
- High tensile strength
- Smooth tissue passage
- Minimized tissue trauma
GLYCOLON production involves copolymerization of polyglycolic acid and caprolactone in a defined ratio. Breakdown of the polymeric suture in tissue occurs through water uptake, reversing synthesis. Tear resistance of GLYCOLON decreases by about 30% 7 days after implantation.
The smooth monofilament surface structure of GLYCOLON surgical thread results in minimal tissue reaction and gives excellent handling and tissue-passage properties. Tissue trauma after suturing is not related to GLYCOLON; the monofilament structure prevents wicking without needing extra surface treatment.
Available undyed (especially suited to skin closure) and violet (physiologically harmless).
