Can BIO-C Sealer be used without gutta-percha cones?
- The technique recommended by the manufacturer is to use it with cones, because due to its bioceramic properties the cement is harder to remove when necessary.
What is the setting time of BIO-C Sealer?
- Setting time is ≤240 minutes and depends on local moisture.
Should I leave the canal moist to use BIO-C Sealer?
- No. The moisture that initiates setting of the material comes from the apical tissues and the dentinal tubules.
What resin is used as the base in BIO-C Sealer?
- BIO-C Sealer does not have a resin base.
- Its viscosity is provided by polyethylene glycol, a long-chain alcohol.
- Therefore the product is more biocompatible and easier to clean.
How should I store BIO-C Sealer?
- Storage should be in a dry, ventilated place and it must NOT be stored in a refrigerator.
If BIO-C Sealer extrudes, can it be resorbed?
- BIO-C Sealer contains calcium silicate that hydrates on contact with local moisture, forming a hydrated calcium silicate structure and calcium ions and hydroxyls.
- Part of the material in the form of calcium ions and hydroxyls can be rapidly resorbed if it accidentally extrudes and contacts periradicular tissues.
- However, the hydrated calcium silicate, together with the radiopacifier (zirconium oxide), is a silica matrix representing the insoluble portion of the product and offering high chemical stability that is difficult to resorb or dissolve.
What is the bioceramic particle content in BIO-C Sealer?
- The product has 65% bioceramic content.
Can BIO-C Sealer be used in single-cone techniques?
- Yes, the product can be used for both single-cone and accessory cone techniques.
What is the difference between BIO-C Sealer and MTA-Fillapex?
- BIO-C Sealer is a ready-to-use, resin-free bioceramic cement with 65% bioceramic load.
- MTA-Fillapex is a resin-based bioceramic sealer (salicylate resin), paste/paste, with 13% bioceramic load in the product.
How many canals can be treated with 1 BIO-C Sealer syringe?
- It is possible to treat 10 to 12 root canals.
