Tungsten carbide burs in packs of 5 for preparation work; use recommended speed, cooling, and pressure.
Recommended working pressure is typically 0.3–2 N depending on the procedure. Excess pressure can harm preparation quality and increase fracture risk. Excessive speed can damage soft tissue and may also occur if cooling water is insufficient.
Burs larger than 19 mm and with diameter over 1.8 mm need additional external cooling. Follow recommended speeds; avoid unnecessary pressure and minimize contact time. At 1500 rpm, minimum cooling water of about 50 ml/min is indicated. Protective eyewear is recommended. Discard dull, damaged, bent, or off-axis burs.
