Area-specific curettes for deep subgingival calculus removal and finishing of subgingival root surfaces.
Place about one-third to one-half of the Gracey cutting edge against the tooth surface. The larger outer curve is always the cutting edge. Keep the lower shank parallel to the tooth surface.
Apply moderate lateral pressure for scaling and light lateral pressure for root planing, then activate the curette with vertical, diagonal, or horizontal pull strokes for balanced working.
