Product features

HyFlex™ EDM files are 5th-generation root canal instruments. Working parts are processed by electrical discharge machining (EDM): a potential between workpiece and tool creates sparks that melt and evaporate surface material, forming a unique NiTi surface that makes HyFlex EDM files stronger and more fracture-resistant.

Unlike conventional NiTi files, HyFlex EDM is produced so that the crystallographic phase transitions from austenite to martensite at room temperature, giving exceptional flexibility and fracture resistance. Material flexibility and regeneration are closely related; HyFlex canal file refills offer up to about 700% higher fracture resistance and a specially hardened surface. Fewer instruments may be needed for successful treatment.

Reusable cycles, judged by visual inspection, are typically higher than with conventional NiTi files.
