EDDY® endo activator tips
EDDY® tips are driven by an air scaler at frequencies up to 6,000 Hz. Vibration is transferred to a polyamide tip that oscillates with high amplitude thanks to the material’s properties. This three-dimensional motion triggers cavitation and acoustic streaming, associated with higher cleaning efficiency.
Sonic-assisted EDDY tips deliver irrigant activation comparable to ultrasonics, while soft polymer tips set a combined safety and efficiency standard. EDDY also supports placement and removal of calcium hydroxide and placement of sealer.
Three advantages in one solution
- Safe: flexible polymer instead of hard irrigation needles or ultrasonic tips; navigates curves while protecting canal anatomy
- Reliable debris removal: remaining tissue and dentin chips; closer apical approach than a metal tip; forgiving material with low risk of tip fracture or dentin damage
- Effective: at 5,000–6,000 Hz, EDDY creates three-dimensional motion; polymer oscillation triggers cavitation and acoustic streaming
Clinical performance notes
- Three-dimensional motion for irrigation activation; longer reach through oscillation; physical effects improve cleaning
- Research indicates sonic activation helps remove residues and reach areas hard to clean by mechanical preparation alone
- EDDY tips activated at 6,000 Hz by an air scaler have been shown to perform equal to or better than passive ultrasonic irrigation
