TheraCal LC pulp capping — light cure 1 g
TheraCal LC is a light-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate–filled liner developed for direct and indirect pulp capping and as a protective base under composite, amalgam, cements and other base materials. An ideal alternative to calcium hydroxide, glass ionomer, RMGI, IRM/ZOE and other restorative materials for capping and base. Acts as insulation/barrier and protection for the pulp complex.
Its patented formula consists of tricalcium silicate particles in hydrophilic monomers with notable calcium release, supporting lasting capping and base function. Calcium release triggers hydroxyapatite formation and secondary dentin bridge formation. Alkaline pH supports treatment effect and apatite formation. Radiopaque for easy radiographic distinction.
Protective liner / pulp capping agent
Protective liner under restoratives, cements or other bases. Indicated on exposed pulp after caries, mechanical causes or trauma; applied directly on exposed pulp after bleeding is controlled.
Advantages
- Improved sealing and bonding on moist deep dentin
- Strong physical properties
- Zero solubility
- High radiopacity
- Significant calcium release
- Fast and easy to use
Direct capping technique
- Control bleeding before applying TheraCal LC directly on the pulp
- Apply in layers on exposed pulp; when 1 mm thickness is reached, light-cure 20 s
- Etch, rinse and bond
- Continue restoration
Indirect pulp capping
- Remove infected dentin before layering TheraCal LC
- Apply in layers not exceeding 1 mm each
- Light-cure each layer 20 s
- Etch surrounding enamel (e.g. BISCO Select HV-ETCH)
- Apply BISCO All-Bond SE and light-cure 10 s
- Apply a core material (e.g. BISCO Core-Flo DC) and finish
