Exatec-S titanium post – 10-piece refill
Active root pins with self-cutting saw teeth, made of titanium. Fixation is performed without damaging dentin in a maximum of 3 turns and at a relatively low torque of 7.9 ± 1.7 Ncm — established in a comparative doctoral study in 1994.
Optimization of root structure stability
The conical apical pin portion can be designed longer than a cylindrical form and offers a very fine structure at the pin tip. This allows the conical Exatec pin to be placed deep into the root canal.
Key features
- 4 flow grooves
- Large pin cross-section (> 3 mm²) and rounded transition for high strength
- Self-cutting saw teeth
- Rounded pin tip
System
A root pin with a conical apical portion offers many advantages over a cylindrical pin. The conical form matches the natural structure of the tooth root, preserving more tooth tissue in the critical area at the root tip and minimizing the risk of root fracture.
In the region most prone to fracture between pin and head, the conical Exatec pin has a larger pin cross-section and rounded transitions than a cylindrical pin of the same apical length. This gives Exatec higher stability and higher values in flexural strength tests.
The Exatec calibration drill prepares a fully matching axial support surface for the Exatec pin head. This structure determines the position where the pin contacts dentin but does not apply pressure to the root wall, because apical movement of the pin is precisely stopped by the axial support.
