MC Opener shares the same active portion geometry as Kerr files (4% taper; 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 mm sizes). Available sizes include 0.20 mm, 0.25 mm and 0.30 mm. Useful for locating canal orifices and enlarging the pathway, and for retreatment in wide canals (e.g. palatal/distal molars or anterior teeth); a slight tip curvature aids probing.

Can be used instead of a stainless steel K-file hand file in hard-to-reach areas during root canal treatment. Tip flutes have a square K-file cross-section. Metal tip length is 15 mm, of which 6 mm are flutes.
