SURGISPON Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge

SURGISPON® is a sterile, absorbable hemostatic sponge made of pure pharmaceutical (lyophilized hydrolyzed collagen) gelatin foam. Applied to a bleeding surface, it supports hemostasis. The sponge is water-insoluble, non-pyrogenic and biocompatible.

Size: 10×10×10 mm. Pack: 50 pieces.

Mechanism

Its porous structure activates platelets on contact with blood and supports fibrin formation, producing the hemostatic effect.

Indications

Used in various surgical procedures to control capillary, venous and arteriolar bleeding. When applied in vivo in an appropriate amount, it is completely absorbed within 3–4 weeks; on mucosal sites it dissolves in about 2–5 days.

Sterilization & use

Gamma sterilized; must not be re-sterilized. Single use — unused product must be discarded. Do not use intravascularly.
