Excessive speed can injure gingiva and vital tissues; the same risk applies if irrigation is insufficient during use. Recommended pressure is 0.3–2 N depending on the procedure. Excess pressure impairs preparation and raises fracture risk. Burs longer than 19 mm with diameter over 1.8 mm need external extra cooling to protect the preparation and the turbine head.

- Excessive speed can distort large-headed burs and increase fracture risk.
- Avoid unnecessary pressure during preparation.
