Use recommended speed and light pressure; cool with water during preparation. Discard worn or damaged burs.
Safe use
- Excessive speed can damage gingiva and soft tissue; inadequate water cooling has the same risk.
- Recommended pressure range is typically 0.3–2 N; excess pressure raises fracture risk and harms preparation quality.
- Burs longer than 19 mm and diameter ≥1.8 mm need additional external cooling.
- At about 1500 rpm, minimum cooling water flow is 50 ml/min.
- Protective eyewear is recommended. Do not store burs in a way that deforms them. Discard dull, bent, or out-of-true burs immediately.
